They took the 4 dollars in toll change but left the 50 buck driving gloves, the 30 buck power inverter, the Physics book that could sell for who knows what, and the hundreds of dollars of tools in the trunk. And they dumped two nearly full tins of Altoids ALL over my front seats and scattered my car’s maintainence records all over.
A line from Pulp Fiction comes to mind...
I guess I’m lucky, but I’m usually VERY good about locking it, but no doors or windows were broken or anything.
Be safe Oppo, and always double check your locks.

It’s hard to gauge the value of things when you’re high on crack. It’s also hard to gauge the value of things when you’re feening for crack.
Don’t do crack kids, coke is way more fun.

Two funny car break-in stories for you:
The first was when I was a kid. My big bro and I went to the mall in the family’s hand-me-down 1988 Buick LeSabre. The car got broken into and the only thing stolen was a Christian music album that was in the tape deck. My brother laughed as he imagined their faces when they finally played the tape and heard religious rock & roll.
The second happened to one of my high school math teachers. Her and her husband’s car got broken into and some loose change was stolen out of the car, just like yours. So did one other thing from the glove box. What was it? Some emergency condoms that they’d left in there for God knows how long. My math teacher cracked up thinking of how brittle and useless those condoms must have been from spending months in the heat.

That’s what the Altoids tin shenanigans makes me think of. I just prefer them to gum, but maybe they thought I’d stasth stuff in them?
Damn you, DeKalb!

My CD case was opened! That was another thought since I have nothing but burnt CDs. Why waste that time?
And that must have been indirectly a very costly break in for the perp XD

You can sleep when you’re dead. There are entire surfaces that need cleaning...

Not the Altoids! Noooooooo!
Seriously, I think the people who do this don’t have two neurons to rub together. I mean, someone broke into my wife’s Mercury Lynx with an AM radio in the medical school garage. WTF?

How did they know there were tools in the trunk? Or did they just “get lucky”?

Well, they’re sitting in these three big ol’ bags, and the trunk release is right on the driver floor.
